Strength

French version

Be strong, her mother told her every day. Be strong and never let anyone tell you it’s impossible. Anything is possible as long as you want it to be. Be strong and fight, my daughter. Everything we’ve gotten, we’ve fought for. Be strong. Don’t let anyone step on your feet. Be strong, you’ll see, it’s important. And everything you think is useless is still an action to move forward in this world.

Yes, going to school when you live so far away is a strength. So be strong and go. Too many children don’t have access to it at all. Going down dangerous paths, arriving only after hours and hours of walking, is their daily life. And they go. They don’t give up. This is their chance and they know it. Be strong, and persevere, like them.

Be strong by protesting like Rosa Parks. Let your voice be heard. Make the world move in a positive direction. Make your life the way you want it to be. You can do it.

Strength is not necessarily physical strength. It can be mental, and in this world it is worth its weight in gold. So be strong and spread your wings when you are ready. There is strength in everyone. You just have to tame it, to coax it. Be strong, said his mother. You will go far.

Be strong. Be strong, and ask for help if you need it. Being strong doesn’t mean being on your own. Asking someone else doesn’t mean failing.

Strength is many things.

Gums

French version

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who had fields in abundance. He kept expanding his property because the crops were always good. He had inherited the farm when his parents died, and since then the farm had flourished. He had hired more labor, bought the properties of several of his neighbors, and now owned a large number of tractors and farm machinery to tend the fields. He had succeeded in life.

But one day, as he walked around his huge property, a huge explosion appeared to swallow up all his precious fields, spitting them out. But the damage was irreparable. All his property, all his fields, all the plants on them, everything had gone up in ashes in less than a minute. The rich farmer, former owner of a successful business (even the farm machinery had burned down and was unusable, unsaleable. ) fell to his knees in front of such a catastrophe. His life’s work! His whole life’s work! Everything was destroyed! How to pay the employees, how to pay back the few machines for which he had borrowed money, thinking at the time that the harvest would replenish the coffers enough to amortize this cost. Those machines had also gone up in smoke. Like everything else he owned. Only his house had remained more or less intact. His workers had been seriously injured, having been working in the fields at the time of the disaster. They wanted to ask for compensation. But the farmer could not pay for everything. And then the insurance company wouldn’t listen, because officially no weather event had caused this. The circumstances were unclear.

Somewhere in the sky, someone from another planet was being scolded. It was Giaof, a small alien who had borrowed his father’s saucer to go on a trip to Earth and brought it back dented and with an engine problem. When his father asked him if he had caused any problems on Earth, Giaof looked away. His father eventually told him that he had flown too close to the surface, having burned « a few fields » in the process. He had dented the saucer and wanted to leave as soon as possible after causing the disaster. The father was even angrier when he heard this. Not only had his son driven without a license, but he had also degraded the Earth!

The father immediately wanted to go to Earth to talk to the farmer concerned. The farmer didn’t believe them when they said they were from another planet and he threw them out when they wouldn’t pay him back. Giaof’s father was outraged by his behavior. He decided to kidnap him and implant an oblivion chip in his gums. The human then forgot everything that had happened. He was never reimbursed either by the responsible aliens or by the insurance company. In any case, the insurance company would never have believed him if he had told the truth. He had to sell his house and was riddled with debts for the rest of his life.

And you, do you believe in UFOs ?

Suddenly someone knocked on the door. She turned around and asked who had knocked. It was someone who came to tell her that she was going to be on stage in a few minutes. She sighed, telling him she was coming. The person left. She got up from her chair, applying a little more makeup. Then she took one last look at her reflection, finding it horrible, as usual. She sighed again, coming out of her dressing room.

Once on stage, out there, she was going to put on a costume that wasn’t usually hers. A role with which she could escape the time of a performance.

And you, what do you think about that ?

Insect

French version

Her passion for insects went way back. She couldn’t even remember when she first became interested in them. Was it just a moment? It was probably a set of moments that had led to her loving these little bugs, as much as they were, useful to nature as they were. She loved them all, without exception. The people she frequented generally hated insects and found her strange because she loved them. There was nothing wrong with enjoying them! They couldn’t understand the joy she felt in studying them and sometimes helping them relocate somewhere in the case of endangered species.

She had a favorite insect. The ladybug. She knew everything there was to know about this small animal. About all kinds of ladybugs. But especially on the red one. Her good luck charm. Every time she saw one, it cheered her up. She was rather introverted, spending time only with insects. Her entourage reproached her enough. Her friends avoided insects, so they didn’t spend much time with her. And others thought she was weird. She was a bit of an outcast everywhere she went. Except, of course, in the bug shows where she could meet other bug enthusiasts.

But these enthusiasts were just passing through her life. They never stayed. She had never managed to hook up with them enough to do anything other than cross paths. It was sad, but true.

One day, while she was walking in the wilderness as she used to do, she saw someone there in the grass. A lonely figure sitting in the grass. Someone like her. She approached. The person turned around. Her long hair waving in the wind. She was holding an insect in her hand. A ladybug. They smiled at each other. Was this the beginning of a new chapter?
